The PLAY Anthology launch: The Golden Guinea, Bristol, UK

play anthology launchg

golden guineaOn the chilly evening of the 5th December 2018,
I joined many other wonderful poets at the Golden Guinea for a full-house reading. Simon Williams and Susan Taylor placed a call for poems around the theme of “play” during the summer of 2018 for an anthology in celebration of their grandson, Reuben, who was sadly killed in a car accident just before Christmas the previous year. The anthology is part of a larger fundraiser to honour his life: “As a memorial to his life, his parents, friends and both of us are raising money for a new play area on Vire Island in Totnes, the town he lived in.”

Susan and Simon projected some lovely images to accompany the poems read from various sections of the anthology. I read my poem “I said, ‘Universe.'”

Copies of the anthology can be purchased from Paper Darts press here: https://www.paperdartpress.co.uk/

“Our Beating Heart” Anthology Launch – erbacce press’s celebration of 70 years of the NHS

On the 30th November 2018, I read at the launch of Our Beating Heart, erbacce press’s anthology in celebration of the 70 years of the NHS. The press included my poem, “MRI Scan – Left Hip” in the anthology. The evening was held in the Deli Marche Restaurant at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, a wonderfully appropriate venue for this significant birthday of the National Health Service. My sincerest thanks to editor Jacqui Dunne for including my poem, and for inviting me to read, as well as for such a deeply heartfelt recognition of what we have in the NHS.
